I am impressed at Ali Hazelwood’s first venture into fantasy with Bride. I love her smartly comedic style of writing, although I was curious how she would cross from her usual “nerdy-romance” trope which is present in her previous writings. I was not disappointed. While the supernatural rules in Bride were simplistic, they were well maintained, and were even explained using established biology. If you enjoyed other works by Hazelwood, it’s safe to say you’ll enjoy this one.

LOVE the humor though. It’s so so funny, I love the fmc. The perspectives of the first 3ish chapters are a tad strange, but it’s easier afterwards.
The writing doesnt feel cheesy despite all of the humor. I think the plot is well-written for the vast majority of the book.

I heard so many mixed reviews about this book that I was nervous going into it. I was also worried it was going to be too close to Twilight. I was wrong.
If I was named Misery, I too would probably want to leave the vampire community and go live with the humans. I also never would have assumed that a werewold marrying a vampire would somehow solve violence. But I'm a sucker for a marriage of convience so who am I to speak. I fully anticipated this to be a pure romance with a lot of smut. We had romance, smut and a tiny mystery aspect that I didn't know about. (I tend to go in to books blind... arrest me for being a cover judger, but you do it too!!) The plot twist at the end I can honestly say I didn't see coming.
4 stars because romance isn't my go to genre and you need to BLOW ME OUT OF THE WATER to get 5 stars as a romance.

A delightful read - I was giggling and kicking my feet the whole time. Is it groundbreaking? No, but god, it’s fun. I love Misery but she’s…so dense for most of the book. She’s like “ohhh this hot guy is looking at me like he wants to fuck me…he can’t STAND me…he’s only being nice to be because he has to” . Great first book of 2025 for me - something light, fun, and whimsical. It’s definitely pretty spicy, especially in the second half, and I would say the romance is DEFINITELY the focus, but the whole vampyre/human/werewolf subplot is enough to keep you engaged outside of all the flirting and pining. Plus, I’m a sucker for the flirting and pining

I was so sat for this book. I read it all in two days. 🫣 There are a few explicit sex scenes so if that’s not your thing this book is probably not for you. I liked the world building and the mystery plot was interesting. I really liked Lowe and Misery’s dynamics and thought they were a good couple. I actually laughed at some of the lines and enjoyed the humor. I am hoping there is a sequel because of the ending with Serena being Koen’s mate. I was so gagged when I read that.
