I wish I could give it 4.5 stars. A lovely retelling of one of my favorite books. I thought Jane Raine and Edward Rosen translated very well to the modern world. I laughed quite a bit and even cried at times. Edward’s eccentric outrage and Jane’s cheeky stolidness made an adorable pairing. I read it as an ebook and would love to buy a physical copy to read again!

I loved Jane’s character development. The drama and tension were chef’s kiss. I am familiar with Jane Eyre even though I’ve never read it but this made me want to go pick it up.

In honor of Charlotte Brontë’s 107th birthday, this retelling was fantastic! It stayed true to the story, and I loved the law office, corporate setting. Jane is timid in the beginning but really finds her voice and her strength. Edward was the perfect Mr. Rochester, and as repentant at the end as he should have been. I’ll be following this author for more books.

I've read several Jane Eyre retellings and this is the only one that really worked. The changes made were clever, and the author managed to stay true to the characters and emotions of the original in a very different setting.

Jane was a delight to read. She's competent, smart, and doesn't whine. Edward is a delightful grump, and I loved watching him soften to her. I'm also very impressed with the reimagining of St John here, his character made even more sense in this context than the original.

It was so refreshing to read a female character who was never a ditz. She didn't trip over herself or say something inane out of nervousness or flutters because she was in love. I so appreciate a woman who doesn't become an idiot when attracted to a man.

If you love modren retellings and legal drama television series Suits, you will love this! I had so much fun with this one. The main reason this book worked so well for me is because of the dynamic between Jane and Edward.
The tension and chemistry between them felt very natural and there was plenty of snappy dialogues between the two which make for some grin-worthy moments. Overall this was such a entertaining and refreshing read.I was shocked that this was a debut and I am so excited to see what Melodie comes out with next!!!

I loved Toronto being the back drop to this story. This is a Jane Eyre adaptation about a foster kid who has aged out of the system and a Bay Street lawyer. This was heartwarming, funny and empowering.
