Pretty good book, but feels a little incomplete - the author just glosses over certain things and you know there is more to the story. I listened to the audio and the reader has a tragic voice going practically the whole time even when topics are relatively mundane. Not the book's fault but very irritating.

It's hard to pull yourself away from this story. An intriguing look inside the sect, yet a different perspective than that of the book Escape.

I was curious. I don't really like books like this - as they justify behavior and think they understand the motives of others.

Still, I learned - it reinforced my belief that polygamy is about power and control.

And it's another system that's not sustainable - who needs 75 wives?

After reading 'The Witness Wore Red', I had to find out more about the little sister. There were a few things I glossed over, but it is still an interesting story. I am so happy these ladies found their way out. I hope their family members that are still "in" are safe and at peace with their decision. I can't imagine being split up from my family. Neither by choice, or force. I would, without a doubt, put up a fight!

A story of growing up in a polygamist home. Becoming a teenager and breaking free of Warren Jeffs. A very interesting look into the polygamist world when Warren Jeffs was the "prophet ". It gave me a greater understanding of the FLDS faith and beliefs. I enjoyed the book.

Still on the polygamy kick...probably since I just read "Escape" and the season of "Big Love" has just started.

It's hard to not compare this book to "Escape." They both even have some of the same minor people overlap, as they are discussing the same community.

I think I found Wall's memoir to be more compelling, because she actually took on Warren Jeffs and was a key witness in his trail. This book also dealt with a lot more of what it means to grow up in the community. Both books work well together, as they show different aspects of the FDL community and lifestyle.

I really enjoyed this story. It was nice that it was over a span of many years. I started to really understand everyone's emotions and motivation.

While the story was uplifting, upsetting, heart wrenching, and inspirational, I thought some of the emotions were lost by the length of it. Had it been a little shorter, it would have been an easier read.
