Just good enough to get me to read volume 6...but just barely. Dialogue is notoriously difficult to do well, and this series suffers in that area.

Things are really starting to get interesting in the series now.

This was a disturbing installment. Very disturbing. I mean, I've watched the show, so I knew about the bad guy, but this was definitely sicker than the show. But still very suspenseful and I definitely want to keep reading.

*UPDATE*

Okay.... Well, seems like I very much had the same opinion about this installment in the first place. Sick. Disturbing. Uncomfortable. Just.. Nothing for everyone. You have to have very strong nerves to get through this. If you can't handle torture and rape, stay away from this.

The characters weren't that frustrating here. And I'm glad about that. They did what they had to, all of them seem to have calmed down a little. Rick wasn't annoying me. Tyreese wasn't really in it, so he didn't either... But Carol... I still prefer the show's version of her.

I'm picking up the 6th installment right now, and this is the last one I've already read until now. So let's see if I can get to the 7th one today too or if that's only going to happen tomorrow.

The group sees a helicopter crash and Glenn, Rick and Michonne go out to investigate it and run into Woodsbury people... oh, and Carol ask Lori a really really ridiculous question that I had to read again to make sure that really just happened.

Well, one thing is for sure: The Governor is even crazier and grosser in the graphic novels than in the TV show.

Seriously this series is not for the light hearted. Especially this volume. This is a graphic, GRAPHIC novel for adults, and adults with strongish stomachs. The Governor has his way with Michonne and it was something that I lightly skimmed over to proceed to the next part of the story.

I mean, in an apocalypse of any kind, that kind of thing would happen. BUT I am happy that they didn't draw it out or anything. But the words said were enough for me to not want to read it. That isn't something I want glorified in the slightest!

Moving on...

Remember how I complained about how poorly written the girl's were in the last book? They got a little, tiny bit better; but they still need a lot of work. We aren't helpless! Andrea is the only one that actually has a backbone and is helpful. Carol has lost her sense of everything reasonable, and Lori just... complains as usual.

BUT I AM EXCITED WE FINALLY GET TO SEE WOODBURY!

I needed to see some human conflict outside of the group.

I am holding out hope the girls get better and that The Governor meets his end sooner than later!

sometimes get a touch too verbose and bombastic, but otherwise I'm
enjoying my reread. also, THE GOVERNOR IS HERE! AND HE'S SO, SO HORRIBLE!

Kirkman still uses quite a bit of exposition, and tends to repeat words in the same dialog bubbles. Also, I don't like that you don't know where issues start or end. I think if you did, the expository stuff would be a little more forgivable. Anyway, I'm not trying to trash this. It's the best volume I've read yet. Crazy times for our gang, and some tough stuff to for you too, readers. this volume ends on a HUGE cliffhanger, so they got me for vol 6 for sure!

A pretty good volume. I'm enjoying the plot threads that are building up, and looking forward to seeing where they lead. I'm not at all convinced by any of the villains in this series, unfortunately; they seem TOO evil, even given the circumstances. I guess there are worse things than occasional apocalyptic melodrama though...

Goodness me, the story just gets grimmer! Some nice twists, character development and shocking moments. I really hope there are some redemptive moments in the next volume.

So i do enjoy the story quite a bit but this confirms that i just don't vibe with horror, it doesn't "thrill" me like i don't get enjoyment out of it like lots of people do
