This is the volume which introduces us to the first big antagonist of The Walking Dead, and showes us some game-changing events.
If you thought the clearing of the prison was a disturbing moment, you haven't seen nothing yet...
Glenn, Rick and Michonne do a discovery which leads them to a 'welcoming' community named Woodsbury, which is lead by a man who calls himself the Governor...
description
Seriously, who thinks when he sees a guy like this that he must be a heart-warming person with only the best intentions?!
Not long after the trio meets the Governor, they learn the hard truth. They are trapped in a torture room (figuratively speaking... Or not?).
And if you think the Robert Kirkman can't hurt the main protagonist, you are SO wrong! No one gets left aside this time...

And if that wasn't bad enough, things get REALLY weird in the prison. Really Carol, what the hell is going on inside your head? I know it must be shocking to find your love cheating on you, but that doesn't mean you have to start and frighten others with some disturbing proposals!

I'm curious to see how it will turn out for Rick, Michonne and Glenn in Woodsbury. But I'm hoping the most for Carol to get her shit together!

I upgraded from 2 stars... I'm not real thrilled with a few scenes from the graphic novel, but they did introduce new plots, people, etc, and I always appreciate forward movement.

Our intrepid little heroes see something, go out to investigate and find a settlement not too far away. And we're introduced to the Governor and his rather fucked up society (of course, it's not quite that black and white, but him being fucked up is rather solidly colored, so he's not much more than a two dimensional evil character - he even has a goatee to prove it!).

I want to dock a score because of the rapeyness. It's not even just a little rape, but full on torture rape. I suppose it could have been worse, but since it's all family friendly torture porn in this book, I suppose they couldn't show more than they did. I dislike rapeyness, sure the society is brutal and ugly and all that, and I would fully (and sadly) expect rape to happen, I'm just not a fan of it in books for just shock's sake.

Definitely better then the previous one. I'm still quite confused on why "the governor" is a greedy asshole, but there's nothing I can do. Hopefully he gets killed off in the next volume or two :P

This series just seems to get more and more messed up. Do not read before bed, it will turn your stomach. That said...I need to get my hands on a copy of Vol. 6 now!

Well, since we went full unnecessary torture porn in this volume, I think I’m done.

So it turns out the governor is an even bigger dick than I thought. This was a hard one to get through.
