“The second we put a bullet in the head of one of those undead monsters -- the moment one of us drove a hammer into one of their faces -- or cut a head off. We became what we are! And that's just it. THAT's what it comes down to. You people don't know what we are.
We're surrounded by the DEAD. We're among them -- and when we finally give up we become them! We're living on borrowed time here. Every minute of our life is a minute we steal from them! You see them out there. You KNOW that when we die -- we become them. You think we hide behind walls to protect us from the walking dead?
Don't you get it? We ARE the walking dead! WE are the walking dead.”
This is by far the most disturbing graphic novel/comic that I've read. You'll have to read this volume to know what I'm referring to.

4 stars. Holy shit! What a volume. The Governor is introduced here and he is an absolute monster. Damn, I thought the show version of him was awful (he is) but comic version is much worse. My goodness the things that he put Rick, Glen and Michonne through was a lot. My poor Michonne. I cannot wait for her to get her hands on him. This was brutal and extremely difficult to read at times but this was such a good volume. The plot thickens and things are about to get even crazier.

Zombies. Violence. Idiocy. The challenge of reading the books on goodreads with the most ratings is that much of it I wouldn't read any other way. This series is a heck of a lot harder to take than Lumberjanes. The art is a lot better though. The art in this one continues to be great. The writing is a lot better. Real characters and different from each other. But all of the characters are some form of annoying. And page after page of trainwreck is still trainwreck. So a great book but not enjoyable.
