The sexism was insane. A lead female character is brutally raped in graphic detail. A lot of racism and use of the N word. It’s very hard to read

What a brutal volume! I thought I hated the Governor before, but I had no idea what hate really was. This man is PURE evil. It's interesting the differences between the comic version and his television recreation. The tv show's Governor uses psychological warfare on those he encounters, while the comic book version uses forceful physical violence. And for the record, his creepy little dead daughter running to him (as far as her chain would let her at least) is beyond unnatural. Gross.
They encounter a really unsavory character who enjoys the suffering of others. This has been my least favorite so far.
Caught up to the current issues ... now to begin the maddening month to month wait -- I'm not cut out to be a true comic fan, I want more than 22 pages a month!
I've been reading these in bits and pieces on my computer each week, so that one day I can finally watch the show. This grouping of issues was really, really intense and discomforting... but good. I'm kind of disappointed that the show goes in a different direction (according to brother) with this set. But interested to see where that direction is.
Harsh. If I had read the graphic novels first, I would never have started to watch the show. They are much darker, much more violent, more disturbing than anything on the show, and I am only talking about what the living do to each other.
