This was a good book! Nothing spectacular, but I didn't hate it. I didn't fiercely love the MC, Pierce. She cried a lot and tried to come off as a strong lead, but with John always saving her, it was a tough go. I did like, however, that she had other things to concentrate on other than the love interest. Her family was involved (which i always love) and she was making friends (I guess), but didn't put all her time and energy into thinking about John.
John also came off as possessive and controlling, but I didn't absolutely despise him.
I liked Cabot's inspiration as well! It was a cute little Isla that would have been fun to explore more of!
The flashbacks in the story were a nice break from the present times in the book and were well placed!!
Overall, it was a fun read!

Wow, I really enjoyed this book. It was nice to read a shallow love story where the undying love is just unrealistic. No matter how much people may hate Twilight for doing this, books like this at least leave you feeling optimistic.

Abandon really filled that role. It had no morals to be learned, no driving plot, it simply had two characters that had very cute interaction that give the reader a little stomach flutter.

Books like this may seem pointless, but I am a firm believer that they play an important role in literature. Its nice to not always be sad, or preached at, or told about how bad life can be. That's why I give this book 4 stars. For being a fun ride that leaves me wanting more, nothing more nothing less.

I really enjoyed this book, yes at times the writing is repetitive, but as a whole it is a very interesting story. I find the parallel of Hades and Persephone to be very well done.

I rarely give a book only one star. However, this book reads like a rough draft, it was not cohesive. The plot, characters and motives bounced all over the place. The main character was whiny and rather annoying with her repetitive over dramatic foreshadowing.
I really liked Meg Cabot's Mediator series, which is partly why I was so disappointed with Abandon. Cabot is a well known author who I know is capable of much better.
adventurous challenging medium-paced

Great, but not great enough. Write more.

Akce. To knize chybělo.

It took me awhile to get into it and it was confusing at times, but I liked it.

The cover really draws you in! Then you take a look at the description and you're like THIS SOUNDS REALLY GOOD! I was jumping out of my shoes in excitement when the book finally came in.

First off let me start by saying the book started really slow, and i'm not the type of person to read the first 3 pages and state how much I hate the book. I was completely bored with it up to the 5th chapter, and I had to put it down. This book was totally disappointing.

I've been a huge fan of Meg Cabot's books ever since I read Avalon High, so when this appeared among the new books at the library where I volunteer, I immediately snatched it up. The fact that it was reinterpreting one of my favorite Greek legends was an additional treat.

I was intrigued by the entire premise, thought it was executed fairly well too. I especially enjoyed the ending, when Pierce really did become a new Persephone, held captive in the Underworld (ostensibly for her own good, to protect her from the Furies).

I'm definitely hooked enough to read what comes next.
