Newsstands are covered these days with the lives of celebrities, which the American public (including myself) finds fascinating. Katharine Hepburn can easily be seen as one of the first about whom this fascination occurred. This book is truly a fun book to read. Hepburn writes conversationally, almost as if speaking to a friend over coffee - and the reader gets to be the friend.

Me is a very entertaining biography full of anecdotes and thoughts about Hollywood and the people found therein during Hepburn’s time. Read and enjoy!

I love old Hollywood so I picked this book up when I found it on sale in a store. I wasn't a big fan of Katharine Hepburn before I read this book, and I most certainly am not a fan now. The writing style was rather awful and appeared completely unedited. It could have used a lot of help to make it cohesive and flow rather than being very choppy. I was also disappointed by the person I saw Katharine Hepburn to be. This book is appropriately titled "Me" because that's just about all she cared about. It was both sad and frustrating to see the impact her self-centeredness had on her life and the lives of those around her. Not a book I'd recommend to others, nor one I intend to keep.

Here's a story. I found this in a thrift store and took it with me on a business trip to the south pacific. It was like .50 cents, so the price was definitely right. Plus, I love old movies, so I was excited about this book.
First of all, it was nothing like I was expecting. Katherine was a bit of a fire-ball. Also she had some really strange and disfunctional things happen in her life. But, hey, it's life. That happens. I get it.
I didn't love it. I'll admit it. But I kept going because it was the only book with me that I hadn't read. Eventually, I gave up and decided to sleep on the plane and get rid of the book.
Nothing against dear ol' Kate, but the book was not uplifting. And she was kind of a brat. (There, I said it. Hate me if you must.)
I didn't feel like there was much benefit in reading it. It was depressing and disappointing.

Admittedly, that was about two years ago, so time could have exaggerated the experience in my mind. So... take that as you will. But I wouldn't recommend it.

This took me a minute to get into, but once I did, I loved it. Like others have mentioned, it’s like hearing the rambling stories of a crazy, lovable, iconic grandmother.

Totally biased. One of my favourite actresses of all time. Destined to give it 5 stars just because.

I genuinely adored this. I was surprised by the writing style and found myself laughing out loud frequently. I loved how she wrote as if she was thinking out loud and veering off on tangents because the previous sentence sparked another memory.

I liked how each chapter was a different story and how some of the stories were interconnected and referenced. I'm sure many people read this for stories about Spencer Tracy and there are, but I read it for stories before Tracy and I got those.

Brilliantly written, overshared to an extent, beautiful photographs scattered here and there and I loved it.
