I listened to this story. What a wonderfully told tale of murder, love, betrayal, etc. The story is long, but well told.
A good modern adaptation of "The Count of Monte Cristo". I couldn't put it down and it consumed my life for the two days it took me to read it.
Leste den på norsk - Fanget av Fortiden. Uvanlig plott, minnet om en moderne versjon av Greven av Monte Cristo. En skikkelig pageturner for min del. Komplett omtale ligger her:

Danny is accused of the murder of his best friend and the court proves him guilty. Is it his fate to be a Prisoner throughout life?
A racy plot with brilliant twists that can keep us engrossed throughout reading. The narrative has emotions entangled.
Unpredictable, Emotional and 'Unputdownable'.

This book had me gripped from cover to cover! I really enjoyed the story although there were moments where some things (without giving too much away) just felt like they too coincidentally worked in the protagonist's favour. That being said, it was quite a leisurely read. Despite being a rather thick book, I read it faster than I would most shorter novels. I will definitely be seeking out another Jeffrey Archer novel soon!
Another fun Archer book. I love the pace of Archer's novels: FAST. And if you like a good revenge novel this one is a great escape. I also like that Archer's characters always end up creating some sort of empire. Pure fun. And the perfect book to take with you on the plane.
I've read so many of Archer's books, it is hard to say if this one is better than most of the others. I do remember though that I loved both Kane and Abel and As the Crow Flies.
Thanks to Bob Szucs for passing this one on to me. I've already passed it on to my father.

Thunder booms overheard, the crackle of lightning makes my bedroom glow like silver... but I don’t see any of that, buried underneath my covers, my breath a warm fog around me as I hold the blankets higher over my head to provide enough room for the flashlight to ply over the pages of the novel that I can’t stop reading— and indeed, don’t want to stop reading...
That’s what this book made me feel... a flashback to a simpler time when endless hours of reading happened more regularly, when the newest Harry Potter book causes months of anticipation, when stories came alive and brought new worlds of people to my very isolated & insular childhood home.
This story was incredibly satisfying and also incredibly complex. I’ve read that Archer has been criticized for the simplicity of his writing but that didn’t irk me. His storytelling ability is what sold this book, what made me want to read all 500+ pages at one time, what made me cheer and weep for Danny as his story was spun.
Well done, Mr. Archer. You’ve just earned yourself another diehard fan.
