I feel like just read two completely different books.

The first 50% was building into a really amazing fantasy story with lots of promise. Then the last 50% turned into a different book all about sex. It was like every scene ended up with our two protagonists getting their rocks off (or well maybe just her because he seemed to have his hands down her pants all the time).

Anyway, overall I'm not sure how I felt about any of them. I didn't find the story bad, but I think the last half of the book being so sexually oriented, lost some of the momentum that would have built stronger characters and more world-building.

I don't know that I have much else to say. I didn't mark it down further because I'm certainly not averse to a good erotic story, which the last half of the book was. And I did like how it ended, but if I'm being perfectly honest, I don't know that I'll even pick up the continuation. Maybe at some point, I'll see if I pop that into my KU like this one was and read it when I'm just looking for something to read. But then, that may never be.

Useless Princess. Yes, that is what they call Nyra. She was already of age but didn’t have magic power and was imprisoned in the castle by her cruel father, the King of Marmoris, who killed her mother because he wanted more heirs. Nyra escaped during the rebellion’s raid and lives wandering on the streets since then. One day, she was caught stealing some money and went to prison and met a girl. This was where her life was changed.

The story is a light-slow mode. The MMC Dacre, is controlling and a bit abusive toward Nyra the FMC. On the other hand, I kinda like how he shows others that Nyra is his. It feels like a cat-mouse in their romance. Magical action was rarely shown. Also, I feel that I’m missing something. In the story, we know the King is cruel and wicked, but that doesn’t show in the story. I mean, at least it shows us how wicked, cruel and evil he is, maybe one prolog, or one chapter. Too many toxic-romantic scenes for me. I really need to feel the action, adventurous charisma and sadistic thrill of the King and his minions to balance the story. Just put the King’s evil masterpiece and voila!
