Did this book have good pacing? No.
Did this book have rich worldbuilding, a magic system that made sense, or in depth characters? No.
Was the plot good? No.

But it was a lot of fun to read anyways!

Super easy read. Disturbed by Dacre and the way he takes advantage of Nyra and borderline-not-borderline sexually assaults her? However, I need to see the enemies to lovers through so I’ll be reading the next installment when it comes out. Definitely not the murkiest of morally gray characters to be found in a romantasy novel, just not for me.

Fun, flirty enemies to lovers with power dynamic. Quick, easy read with decent amount of spicy scenes.

very yummy enemies to lovers

Kinda feels like a mish mash of most romantasy books. However, I will be reading the next one lol. It’s been effective for distracting me from life for the past couple of days and it’s a quick read.

I really enjoyed this slow burn, enemies-to-lovers fantasy.

The angst and animosity between Nyra and Dacre are quite addictive, and secrets, lies, and long-built tensions threaten to them at all turns. Dacre is commandingly sexy, and Nyra more than holds her own against the accusations and threats, all the while hiding her real identity.

This book has set the series up, but I wish it had been longer with more build-up and explanation. Hopefully more will be revealed in the next book!

This book gave me the ick honestly. It made me want to write a book where the FMC tells the creepy possessive sex pest MMC to fuck right off cos she's worth more than that.

Also I didn't understand the world at all, why are the traitors and the rebels not on the same side? Why did this end the way it did? I will never know cos I sure as hell aren't reading the next book.
