I LOVED this book! The twists and turns! The plot twists! The banter! Everything about it I loved and I was hooked from the first page.
I couldn’t wait to start the second book in the series, the moment I finished The Inheritance Game. The plot was incredible and even more so gripping than the first book. I was invested entirely in the Hawthorne family and their relationship to Avery (mmc).
I loved the development of the relationship between Jameson and Avery and loved the banter between them. Like every fandom (circa 2009) I’m #TeamJameson. I loved the development and seeing the relationship the brothers had to each other and the differences in their personalities. Xander, I want as my best friend, Nash the protective older brother. Grayson, the logical thinking one and Jameson the cheeky game-player.
I loved the inclusion of the fathers into the storyline, and how Toby had come to be. The plot holes that hadn’t been explained yet in the first book, although not all of them, were then explored and you can see how much thought and effort Jennifer Lynn Barnes put into this series.
Honestly, the series just keeps getting better as you go along. Another incredible read from Jennifer Lynn Barnes.
4.75⭐️ and very much looking forward to the next in the series.

A but of a copy and paste of book 1 but with a bit more character growth and different puzzles.
Overall a nice quick, enjoyable read.

Honestly, more like the stakes and tensions I expected of book 1 from the blurb.
Bots are still pretty 1D and interchangeable, but whatever.

Reading this was like pulling teeth. Where the first book was fast-paced and fun, this one dragged on. Nothing happens except for a bunch of filler until the last 15% of the book with ridiculous plot twists.
I don’t even want to get into the “love triangle” with the wet blanket brothers. Absolutely no chemistry between any of them. Again, like the first book, I felt no emotional connection towards these characters.
Since this book was so underwhelming, I don’t think I will continue on in the series.
