I loved everything about this book.

There were a couple of things that bugged me, but at the end of the day those things are minimal compared to everything I loved.

The characters were relatable, despite living a life I could never relate to. They were fun, they felt so real.

The plot was interesting and grotesque from start to finish, and the writing was everything. Easy and digestible, without sacrificing the quality and horror of what was happening.

I’ve never been so devastated realising a book I’m reading is a standalone, let alone feeling that way only 20% in. I’ll be praying for a sequel, I want to know
what adventures Percy and Galen find themselves in. I want to watch Aramis rebuild her kingdom, I want Ranka to truly find herself outside of the title of Bloodwinn.

This book was so many things: a story of finding and choosing yourself, recognizing and overcoming abuse, and love. I savored the contents and love every twist and turn of the plot right until the end.

Maybe home was no longer a place, but a person, a feeling, a dream. Maybe home was wherever her heart could finally rest.

I'm strong because after all the hurt, still I love. Still I trust. My strength is not owned to the wounds you gave me, but my willingness to let them scar.

So, this is how your write a sapphic fantasy!! It's just perfection and I have so much to say about this masterpiece! First of all, this book has the perfect balance between plait and character development. I love all our main characters. Rankas story is at the same time so sad, but so inspiring and relatable. Aramis is literally me, I felt very seen and their relationship is beyond sweet! Also,  Galen and Percy don't come to short and have important parts to play. Galen is my adopted son!

Sometimes I was brutally harsh reminded, that this is not just a funny, imaginary fantasy novel. It has so many realistic aspects to reflect. The witch burning was for many hundred years a thing, and still is. The author describes it very violently, but that's just how it was. People need to realise, that we burned innocent women and children, just of being scared. I really loved this grey path to. There are no heros on both sides - humans and witches. But there are also not only monsters. And who sad a monster is only something bad? Both sides are the reason for this conflict to last so long and it's so easy to put into reality. Every long conflict is like that!

The magic system is brutal, too and so well explored. I loved the flashbacks and structure of the novel. Why are there so many Taylor Swift references? I don't dislike it...
Must read for everyone who craves an effortless sapphic couple in an amazing fantasy world!
