I listened to this a little too quickly for book club and with lots of distractions so I think that impacted my experience, that said, I did enjoy it. Found the vibes of the modern era rather annoying with their tiktok chat. Could see the clues a mile off but wasn't sure how they'd turn out. Cool to be connected to Scotland and Dundee.

tw//mention of sexual assault
i usually love the authors books but this time it was a 2.5 i found the sexual assault experienced by nicky over excessive at times to the point where i was bracing myself reading her pov because of how uncomfortable it was to read it i would def check the trigger warnings for this book before you read it!!! also the ending wasn’t even satisfying i was so incredibly disappointed by it and i also found it super predictable i predicted the twist not even half way through the book

I really enjoyed this book! The writing was descriptive and atmospheric. I felt like I was in the story or watching a movie in my head. There were past and present chapters told from the POV of two different characters. I was connected to the characters and felt what they were going through. I was intrigued throughout the whole story and wanted to know what was happening/what was haunting this ship.
The reason why it lost a half star was because there were mentions of TikTok and even though it had relevance to the story it brought me out of it at those points. Otherwise I was immersed the whole time! I am definitely going to pick up another book by C.J. Cooke
