DNF.
Not what I expected plus didn't like all the coincidences that needed to happen to keep the storyline going.

Tricked, betrayed and abandoned Juno a young teenage girl goes looking for her family. She was raised to believe that the end of the world has basically happened and her family was all that was left. While off on a hunting trip her whole life was shaken into another realm. Everything she was taught, everything she believed may have been a lie. She must go out into this foreign world and find the answers, but will the truth be too painful ? She has never known the world she is now in, and she has to trust an outsider to complete her mission. Both tot them will learn many lessons and loose some of their innocence.
Interesting, the raised in another world while really in this world was an interesting concept. She is the special little bee that is all too common is YA books but this little bee has holes in her wings and it is a nice touch. There is a lot of doubts, and thinking, this girl thinks and follows through with her choices. Not all of them are smart, but they are who she is. The reason her people have been taken was a little misty, but leading to what could be a very interesting story. She could be medically improved, spiritually improved or a genetic mutation ? I have my preference and hope it goes my way. The romance, was extremely brief and for me it wasn't right at the moment so I was happy the author backed off. Things had gotten intense, changing, moving and BOOM the book ended. I hate cliffhangers. Now, I need to find out when book 2 comes out

I feel like this book could’ve been a lot shorter. It could’ve had less running around in more dedication to the actual backstory of the main female character and the male character. I felt like the last 30% of the book could’ve been merged with the first 30% been perfect. Now because of how it ended I will definitely be reading the second book but if you can get past like 50% of the first book it is a good book if that makes sense.

I have to say that this book was a lot more than I expected. I'm not saying it was bad, because it's not. It's truly amazing. It's one of those books you don't see on every single shelf at the book store. It's different.

Juneau was an amazing character. You could see the character development throughout the novel. At first she was stubborn and didn't want to believe of the lies she has been told. She began to trust Miles and fall for him.

Miles can be such an ass at times but I just loved him. I hated how through most of the book, he wanted to deliver her to his father even as he fell for her.

Miles and Juneau are really well together. Together they want to make each other a better person.

Whit. Well I don't know. First he seemed like a nice guy but then he hunted down Juneau. I don't really trust him. He better prove himself.

Overall it seemed like a different book. Most post-apocalyptic books follow the same plot. There's a war and some kind of diseased people hunting down the survived. This isn't like those. It's hardly a post-apocalyptic, but it makes you feel that way when you see it through Juneau's perspective.

This won't disappoint.

I am expecting a good sequel. Can't wait.

I felt that the first few chapters were somewhat slow and didn’t really manage to keep my attention for long, making me put it down several times. And I especially thought Miles’ chapters, in the beginning, were sorely lacking any excitement and I didn’t know why we needed 2 pages of Miles every time Juneau’s chapters were just getting interesting. But despite its slow beginning, I thought After the End really picked up once two main characters crossed paths, and I finished it pretty quickly.

With so many dystopian/post-apocalyptic/etc stories out there, After the End brings something new to the table. It may not be the end for the rest of the world, but for Juneau, it definitely felt like the end of hers. So to me, it was a refreshing take on something that is more common. While it has a slow beginning, I think the strong protagonist and intriguing storyline more than made up for it. I really enjoyed reading After the End, and I’m looking forward to reading the sequel. Especially when it ended with a cliffhanger!

If you’re looking a for a quick and easy read that’s not too deep and emotionally tiring, After the End could be a fun read for you :)
