PJ Lynch always delivers lush, textured illustrations to holiday stories. The family home here feels cozy and lived-in yet from another time. Deducting a star because the nighttime illustrations can be difficult to see if your lighting isn't just right. Enjoyed by both kids and parents.
As much as I love Christmas books, I've never purchased a copy of The Night Before Christmas because I never found one that enchanted me. Until I found this edition. Magical paintings by Eric Puybaret combine with the original text by Clement C. Moore. Even better, this edition of the classic poem comes with a CD of the poem being sung by Peter Yarrow, of Peter, Paul and Mary fame, as well as two other songs, "Christmas Eve with Mary," and "A'Soalin." My son loved the pictures and the song both.

Beautiful poem. I haven't read it since I was a child. I used to have the book, but I lost it. I found an online copy with whimsical mixed media illustrations by Antonia Hidalgo. I realy enjoyed revisiting an old classic.

This is a classic Christmas story. The illustrations are gorgeous and the story is a lovely tale.
The classic Clement Clarke Moore poem newly illustrated by Helene Magisson. Soft toned images beautifully portray Moore's rhyming couplets and Santa is as round and cuddly as any child could wish for. I enjoyed the pictures where the family's cat makes friends with the jolly man especially as he is given his own clockwork mouse toy for Christmas!
