I really liked this one. It's one of the first books in a while that actually had me stressing at times. The plot and different POVs are woven together really well and I liked most of the characters. I did end up guessing some of the twists, but not until the last minute. The only thing I didn't love was the ending. There was nothing really wrong with it. I think I just wanted some different outcomes. Thank you to Netgalley and St. Martins Press for the advanced copy.

I received a copy of this title via NetGalley. It does not impact my review.

I’ve come to really look forward to new Alex Finlay books and If Something Happens to Me did not disappoint.

The synopsis of the story makes it seem like the story is really focused on Ryan, the boy whose girlfriend disappeared. While his story is definitely an important part of the book, there are several other storylines and perspectives, as well. There’s Shane and Chaz, the mobsters. Michael, the Accountant, and his daughter. Poppy, the new Sheriff’s Deputy, and her father and brother. While all their stories eventually connect, I liked the individual character development, as well. The short chapters and multiple POVs made me fly through the pages.

Were parts of the plot often improbable? Yes. Did I guess basically each and every twist from a mile away? Yes. Did either of these things hinder my enjoyment of the book? Not at all! This was a very fun, fast paced read with characters I cared about. After trying several books in a row without becoming invested in any of them, once I picked this up, I never wanted to set it down. I definitely recommend it and will be looking forward to Finlay’s next book.

This was my first Alex Finlay book, and it didn't disappoint. I was on the edge of my seat from start to finish. Full of mystery, action, and suspense, I did not want to put it down.

I truly enjoy this author’s writing style! I didn’t find this to be much of a thriller but it definitely carried some suspense. I was a bit confused keeping the characters straight - it also took me more than halfway through to realize that there were chapters going between past & present - as this is an unedited copy, I hope that is specified in the final version. All in all, a good story that kept me interested.

THANK YOU to the author, Netgalley and St. Martin’s Press for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This book is super bingeable. While I was able to guess some of the outcomes it didn’t feel like it took anything away from the story.
