I wanted to like it, I really did, but it was just so...strange.

The jokes fell flat most of the time, the banter was awkward, and I just couldn't connect with either character. The hero seemed kinda ditsy, and that is not a desireable quality in a leading man. I only made it about 32% and partway through their strange banter about blushing and orgasms, before I threw in the towel and decided to quit.

I didn' hate it, or even really dislike it. I was just baffled by it and had no desire to finish it, which is unusual for me when reading a Lauren Blakely book. I love her, and this book won't change that, but I think I'll move on to something else.

I really struggled through the first quarter of this one, I just thought it was trying too hard to be funny and quirky.

Thankfully it started to flow and I really enjoyed the rest of it. The MMC was cute and awkward.

🌶️🌶️/5

I keep flipping between a 3 and a 4 on this.

It's quick and snappy. The sex is later in the book which made it a great work read (aka not blushing while listening).

I loved how the two characters meet and then follow a story through fun tropes.

I really enjoyed this book.
It's funny, it's corky and has a lot of pop culture references.
The cliches don't make you gag.
I don't know why but Finley felt like a brunette.

Been too long, don't remember...didn't hate it...

Cute story about two dorks falling in love. A great story for comedy and movie lovers, these two fall in love while exchanging movie quotes and comedic quips. Very sweet love story with some good spice.

When Quirky Meets Quirky - And In A Cool Way!

There wasn't much that I just didn't love about this book. The story line wasn't new, but it was delivered in a fresh way. Finley was my kinda gal. As Kyler called her, she is hot in an oddball sort of way. She was a complete goofball and she was fantastically imperfect, who was perfect just for him. She is a script writer and has her own comedy show on tv that may or may not be renewed for the next season. She needs a new muse to help her creative juices flow. In struts Lloyd Dobler...... well Kyler impersonating Lloyd and acting out his classic scene. But it all fails dramatically when he starts singing to the wrong girl. The big romantic grand gesture flopped like a non scary rollercoaster. So Kyler, or as Finley likes to call him, Tom, sets about finding the girl and setting things right, only it takes on a whole new meaning half way through their road trip.

Tom was such a romantic, and I adore that. Just because one grand gesture didn't work, it didn't stop him from trying again. It was clear from the onset that this couple were just meant to be. He was her lobster and she was his everything girl. The banter between them flowed so naturally and I loved all the movie references. I am a big movie buff too, and I wish I could remember the lines verbatim like they did, it was extremely savvy. And once Tom took off his rose coloured glass from what he thought he wanted, things started to get very interesting indeed. Their oddities worked well together and they were each others kind of crazy.

If you are in the mood for some humor, light comedic banter and lots of movie quotations and lines, then you are going to love this book. I am marking it as one of my favourites from this author.

Time and time again, Lauren Blakely delivers a wonderful story telling romance that has you feeling like you're snuggled up on the couch with a cup of hot cocoa. All those good feels are reasons i continue to read LB's books.

To start off, don't judge a book by its cover, or title. The title isn't what you think, but more adorably the references it has throughout the book. If you love 80s and 90s pop culture movies, then this is it. Right here. You'll be taken back in time, and smile from ear to ear with each reference. I loved the adorableness of this book, and i wish there were 2-3 Epilogues like LB usually has. We'll have to settle with just the 1 Epilogue.

I love Andi Arndt's narration for LB's books, and i enjoyed Joe Arden's narration as well for this specific character.
