5 ROMANCE TROPE CROWNS
This surprisingly has been my first audiobook form Lauren Blakely, and I absolutely adored every moment. The narrators did an amazing job bringing these characters to life, and the dual narration is among my favorite.
Kyler is so adorably lost in the art of wooing women, and depends upon the most romantic tropes and movies to guide him. He is completely adorkable, and like most Blakely heroes, he has this uncanny ability to be charming and nerdy and sexy all at the same time! I was charmed by him.
Finley is a great heroine. More experienced than Kyler in the relationship area, she becomes his guide in courting women in exchange for some writer inspiration. I love the candidness she had with him and the fun they had together.
The chemistry between them is fantastic. I swear Blakely is the queen of banter. Each couple being unique and charming and lovable. I fall for each one.
This story is for the romance lover. The allusions to different movies and tropes are amazing! It brought her comedy to another level with Unzipped, and I found myself laughing out loud as I remember those moments and movies. Lauren Blakely doesn’t just throw them in for fun, though. She brings the references full circle.
I listened to this audiobook with a complete smile on my face. The narration, the story, and the overall experience is Rom-com gold.

Andi Arndt and Joe Arden are two of my favorite narrators, so it would have been a massive surprise if they phoned in subpar performances. Fortunately, they did not. The story itself is perfectly fine—it’s just not as laugh-out-loud funny as most of the other Lauren Blakely books I’ve read.
The premise is cute and tailor made for fans of romantic comedy movies. There are a ton of references to rom coms made in the 80s and 90s, and it’s borderline overdone, but I’m a child of the 80s who enjoys chick flicks so it gets a pass. I liked both main characters, even though Tom is so adorkably clueless it hurts. The first half lags a bit and I struggled to stay interested at times. However, I enjoyed the second half more and the big finish is really satisfying.

Loved all the pop culture references. That part was my favorite. Loved that Kyler had an unusual job and it made him so much cooler then he was.
