Based on the RAIN principle. Had many Buddhist teachings mixed in throughout the book. There were a few mentions of other religions as well.

This book offered a helpful new perspective on self-compassion. Lots of nuanced and relatable themes and I liked the meditations incorporated throughout. Definitely a book I can see myself returning to in the future.

This is a good addition to the reading list of those who are working hard on self-care. It offers some good guidance for meditation and can take you to some really intense places, so I see how if you've experienced some intense trauma, it might take you to some tough places. The majority of its content comes in the first third or so and the last chapter.

This felt like a slog and I wasn't sure I would finish but then three quarters of the way through it clicked and I am so glad I finished it. Lots to think on.

Where has this book been my whole life? What a wonderfully written, soothing book that brought me to tears through the compassion Tara has for others, and herself.
