Ahh, Tate! Sweet, sweet Tate. He is the new book boyfriend of my dreams!
Tate and Harper are so adorable! I love a good age gap romance, you don’t typically see older woman to younger man, but this story is omg good!!

Harper is a 35 year old woman, two years after her divorce. She isn’t bitter with her ex, who is actually her best friend, she’s just kind of lost. She doesn’t know exactly what she wants. She wants a relationship, but she wants to focus on her career. She isn’t sure if she wants to start a family someday. She doesn’t know if marriage is in the cards for her again. Into the picture comes Tate, the sexy younger waiter from her favorite restaurant that literally barrels into her life. Harper isn’t sure what to do at first, because she knows Tate is younger. Much younger. He’s sexy, he has an accent, he can get any girl he wants, all her doubts come in to play.
But Tate has wanted Harper from the moment he saw her, except she was married. Now he knows she’s single, and he isn’t letting her get away.
Tate is from a family of men that know how to get their girl. And Tate has always wanted a love like his parents. From the first date with Harper, Tate was ready to propose. Tate doesn’t care about the age difference. He can’t see any other women when his woman is in the room. He’s mad about her, now it’s just convincing her to give them a real chance.
Can Tate convince Harper this is real? Can Harper get over the age difference?

Honestly Tate is the new book boyfriends forever! He was swoon worthy to the tenth degree! How he loves Harper is how people dream of being loved! And I loved the epilogue!!

Waiting by Xavier Neal is a reverse age gap romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Charlie L. Wood and Christian Leatherman.

I really enjoyed the relationship that bloomed between Harper and Tate. I liked that we got both of their points of views throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.

Charlie and Christian did an amazing job on the narration. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.

I would recommend this book if you like reverse age gap romances or contemporary romances.

4 stars!

Tropes: reverse age gap (older woman, younger man)
Triggers: death of parents mentioned

Liked: I love a reverse age gap! You get so many with a successful older man and it’s great to see this is the opposite! She’s very successful in her career and really pushes Tate to progress in his too. And I love the use of Spanish and Irish phrases (although I did have to Google Translate a bunch to find out what he was saying). Tate is one sexy dirty talking Irishman!

Disliked: I wasn’t a fan of OW sending explicits in his DMs being mentioned and phone numbers being given. I know he deleted them straightaway and didn’t want anything more than the heroine, but it never said that he completely blocked them. But that might just be me being picky!

OM/OW: h is still friends with her ex which makes the H jealous. OW hit on H via DMs and in the bar, but he never goes further than flirting.

I absolutely fell in love with so many things about this book. I love that Harper is a strong, independent woman who finds out who she really is, not her through the lens of someone else, just her, while also finding love. I love that Tate is totally, and irrevocably, enamored with Harper. But, he too also goes through this growth of wanting to plan a life with someone else that gives him roots. Their story is equal parts adorable, a little complicated, definitely hot and definitely gave me extra heart eyes…. Especially after some of the more romantically swoony moments. I also loved that it was a little quirky and made me laugh. Also, Tate’s flirting? Geeze, Harper didn’t stand a chance!
Now, it isn’t completely smooth sailing for our wonderful couple, but, I think the bumps they do have are pretty realistic for their situation (both have different insecurities) and they both take chances to fight for their love; to make their relationship work. I was cheering them on!
This was just a wonderful read.

This is one of those books we’re anticipation is all the fun! From beginning to end this book was a special kind of glamor that made you just cheer for these two to get together! Fabulous read! Five stars! Could not… would not put it down!

Waiting is remarkable age gap romance. Harper is an divorced woman looking for her second chance at love. But while talking with a younger, hot server Tate, she feels something new which blindside. But Tate wants to make her see how beautiful and desires she is. I love to watch them fall in love and see them find their happiness.

Do you know when you just need one of those books that just clears the air? Waiting was that book for me, and it was so enjoyable to read that I hated to have it end. I loved this author's book Aleatory, and Waiting is similar to the main characters being an older woman with a younger man. Harper is a divorcee trying to re-enter the dating arena after divorce and runs into the younger man Tate, a server at the restaurant she and her husband frequented. Tate has left an impression on Harper with his dashing good looks, and his Irish accent Tate has always been attracted to Harper, and now that she is available, he turns his Irish charm on her. This story is low angst, and all good stuff as these two find their one true love and navigate becoming one. There is growth to be had on both sides, and both people are willing to work to overcome and grow to work together to make a family. The Elvis references, the blues, and the jazz references make their story rich. This story is alive with different races, nationalities, genders, and orientations, but family unites them all; whether blood or found, love unites them all. Great book, Xavier!

I enjoyed Harper and Tate’s relationship from the start. It is an older woman, younger man romance and I loved how confident and swoony Tate was and how Harper could be more herself around him. These two are supportive of each other and I loved how well they communicated. I couldn’t put this one down, great read from Xavier.
