Tales You Win

After roughly meeting Grim and Beast in the duet about the Masks and Grims sister, this was a no brainer- I had to pick up (altho  now I have to retrace my steps to go back to read about Hudson and his brothers!!! - doing it all backwards!!).

I love the way it's done in a form of a memory in a letter to their daughter Iris, as they go on the rescue mission to try to save said sister! It leaves it open so the readers who have yet to read the duet have no spoilers - nicely considered!

Beast is Grims bodyguard and trainer. She's only 17 and he's 23, but living in the underground world as they do, she's more mature for her age than most at 17.

There's a natural spark between them that easy to see. They tease each other, work well with each other in the ring and Beast cares for her safety.
But that spark grows and the teasing gets heated and gets to the point where Beast can no longer think of any other woman, can't sleep with anyone else and due to Grim - or Princess as he calls her - is only 17 he's very frustrated! She's also the boss's daughter. There's nothing more out of bounds than that!
But Grim tries to seduce him! And while it does technically work, Beast has the strength to say no each time.....

Grim is starting to learn the business of Tales, the gym, as her father, Carter, has told her he wants her to be a partner when she turns 18.

But something suddenly seems off. Beast is Carter's second, yet is being kept in the dark in a lot of his latest decisions.
He introduces a guy called "the King", as someone he's doing business with - but he specifically wanted Grim to be at a dinner to meet him. Both Grim and Beast get bad vibes here....

Carter is furious with Grims attitude and dress, calling her a "whore".

He tells Beast to make sure she keeps "pure" from now on....

And then there's a fight set up.

Between Beast and the Kings enforcer, Derby. With a devious and knowledgeable smirk that makes us think he has caught wind of the goings on between his daughter and enforcer, he changes the rules at the last minute....

There's weapons allowed in the ring.

And it's to the death....

What a flipping ending!!! There's slight more that happens, but I'm not giving any of it up!! I'm loving seeing how these two got together. The spark and chemistry between them is there from the get go, it just grows and morphs into something more powerful and stronger.

It's fun to watch Grim tease - she does it with such confidence! And Beast has great restraint!!

Looking forward to the second part!!!

Ding ding! Another knockout from the queen. Grim and Beast are toxic and tragic and intoxicating in all the best ways. So glad we finally get to see the entirety of their relationship and how it developed. Very impatiently waiting for the next one now! Grim is gritty and badass from the very start and I love her even more now. It was so fun to see Beast as a full character and get moments from his perspective then just the witty bites we're used to. Bowing down to Bea once again lol absolutely loved it.

obsessed

I have been so exited about this duet and Bea Paige hasn’t disappointed. I have been obsessed with Beast and Grim since I first read about them in the Academy of Stardom Series! I can’t wait for the final book.
