I love L. M. Montgomery’s writing. It’s such a peaceful, enjoyable reading experience. But I just don’t connect with Emily the same way I do with Anne. I don’t find her as likable or endearing. I also found the introduced future love interest in her 36 year old cousin (who says he will “wait for her” and plans their first kiss) lecherous and gross. She’s twelve! That brought the whole story down for me.
Lovely literature. Emily isn't nearly as compelling a character as L.M.Montgomery's Anne, but she does have a certain charm unto herself.

I will always love anything by L.M. Montgomery. Emily is a delight. She has her differences from Anne, but very much has the same dreamer qualities that are so endearing. I feel like I have been to Prince Edward Island with how descriptive these books are, but it is definitely still on my bucket list!
