**The bodyguard**

šŸ¤ šŸŽ¬šŸ‡šŸ˜˜

āļøāļøāļøāļø

**Synopsis:**
Hannah Brooks looks more like a kindergarten teacher than somebody who could kill you. But the truth is, sheā€™s a bodyguard, and she just got hired to protect superstar actor Jack Stapleton from his stalker.

Jack Stapletonā€™s a household nameā€”captured by paparazzi on beaches the world over, famous for, among other things, rising out of the waves in all manner of clingy board shorts and glistening like a Roman deity. But a few years back, in the wake of a family tragedy, he dropped from the public eye and went off the grid.

Theyā€™ve got a secret.
Only one catch: He doesnā€™t want his family to know about his stalker. Or the bodyguard thing. And so Hannahā€”against her will and her better judgmentā€”finds herself pretending to be Jackā€™s girlfriend as a cover.

What could possibly go wrong?

**Personal thoughts:**I really enjoyed the book. I just feel the other books Iā€™ve read before overpowered my thoughts. I found myself enjoying the book but not enough to think and dwell on it. I love the clean romance šŸ„° and loved the ending. I think I like the middle to ending more than the beginning. I loved the romance. Only criticism I have is I think the trope ā€œhe will never like meā€ is a little bit much. I get it, insecurities are real but I think when it stems from Iā€™m normal and heā€™s famous, it can get unrealistic. I think if it played on her fear of trusting others itā€™s more realistic.

**Spicy level:** šŸŒ¶ļøšŸŒ¶ļø/5 | fade to black, making out

A classic fun 00s romcom of a book. Hannah is driven, Jack is ridiculous and I love them both so much. It's devastating and delightful in one

"Love is something you generate.
"And loving other people really does turn out, in the end, to be a genuine way of loving yourself."

Love Katherine center. Her books always have uplifting endings which I appreciate so much. Then the body of the book is always a mix of sad and happy but not to worry, this one is not very sad. Thank u bc my seasonal depression cannot take that at the moment.
The couple was really cute and the plot was interesting. Jack is perfect. My only complaint is some of the side characters. Robbie is so mean and dumb to the point I donā€™t understand how Hannah could have dated him in the first place (or Taylor!!). Also didnā€™t love Glen he straight up treats his employees like shit. Lastly Kennedy or whoever was so over the top it was unbelievable. But other than the obnoxious side characters this story was just what I needed.

What could easily have been just a run of the mill contemporary romance actually packed quite a punch, exploring loss, grief, and a bit of PTSD along with the strength it takes to love and be loved in return. While the plot elements that brought Hannah and Jack together were contrived, the growth of their relationship felt natural and I sure did root for them. When a romance makes me cry, it's a goodun.
