My first time hearing of this book was through the goodreads list "books that everyone should read at least once" which I've been slowly working my way through.

After a bit of a slow start I became increasingly invested in this world but realised to my dismay that it would be too short for a satisfying conclusion. As it stands, it left me with much to consider regarding the importance of individuality and emotions.

I wish it were at least twice as long as I was so interested in how the author would resolve the many societal issues that where brought up in this book and ultimately I was left with many unanswered questions which is not my favourite. I prefer neat books.

this book reminded me of a book I read in high school. Brave New World.
I enjoyed this, I will have to read the next in the series.

This is another in the category of how-is-it-that-I've-never-read-this-before? All in all, pretty good - though I would have liked more information about the how and the why behind that society. And who was dictating it? But a fast read with some startling and interesting images and good points.

Until the last paragraph I would have given this book 4 stars. I appreciated the look at this dystopian society, the questions it raised, the paralells to the odd decisions we sometimes make in our own society, the lessons we can learn. What I didn't appreciate was the ending. The actual very ending. That last paragraph. Apparentlly I'm not educated enough (although I do have a doctorate), not a good enough thinker, or maybe not a good analyzer. The ending. I just don't get it and it ruined the entire book for me. Don't bother.

Not my usual genre. Dystopian with a shocking twist! SL 300.
