I read this because I was curious. It was very funny at first and I did laugh out loud at several points but the middle lagged a bit. It was a little too predictable, I got annoyed with her on several occasions, and she mis-referenced one of the scenes from the wrong book *gasp*. It wouldn't be so bad but for the characters apparent obsession with the books, to mis-quote the book was not cool to this fellow obsessed fan. It was just an outcry, in fact, I may have done so! ;) The ending was good and I ended up being glad I read it, but if you are not an Outlander fan, I would not even bother, you'll be lost.

Predictable but fun romp through Scotland. Particularly great if you're an Outlander fan.

There was nothing surprising about this tale. Bland is about the best thing so can say.

This book had such a cute premise. The beginning started off great and I loved that it was told like a story but with blog posts and emails. However, the middle was a bit stagnant. It got a little slow for awhile. Thankfully it picked up at the ending, which was really cute.

it's chick lit. it is what it is. I was reminded of my first chick lit, Alyson Noel's "Fly me to the Moon" (story was basically the same) and "Austenland" by Shannon Hale due to search for fictional character. I read it over three days and passed it on to another Outlander fan who needed a break after Fiery Cross. I will give it points for being an easier (maybe even better) book than Fiery Cross at any rate....
I mostly have three complaints: super predictable, maybe one legit surprise in the book but it was foreshadowed. I found the blog gimmick OK but the blog was not entertaining enough to warrant comments like, "Awesome storyteller! you tell just enough to get us hooked!" ... she really didn't. Her followers really needed to chill on praise in that front. This last complaint is bordering pedantry, but she makes a reference to just being like Claire in Edinburgh in Dragonfly in Amber looking for Jamie... Voyager... it happened in Voyager. Dragonfly took place in France. I'll give her points for various Outlander references throughout the book (even that awful gnome's fetishes...) but overall it was just meh. didn't hate it but I won't reread it.

perfect flight reading on my way to Edinburgh!

This was a fun book to read. I will have to admit that I have not read Outlander but it didn't really matter for the book. I like how the book was set up and it seemed I picked it up and then was done. The flow was good, and I liked the characters except for the ones that you shouldn't like as much. She pulled you and held to the story. Made me want to visit Scotland and see some of the sights described. Emma has a lot of problems and doesn't always make the best choices but you see her grow and are cheering her on before too long. There was humor mixed through out the book which just makes it better for me. I will have to check out more books by this author as this was the first one I read. I would recommend this book to others. It also made me want to move Outlander up on my TBR list.

A pleasant, enjoyable tale about an Outlander fan's journey through Scotland. I appreciated the Outlander references, and the beautiful descriptions of Scotland, but it didn't wow me. I occasionally found the protagonist annoying, I felt that the blog parts could have been done in a better way and there was a lot of plot and movement, but not as much development as I would have liked. Again, a nice treat for Outlander fans, just not earth-shattering.

adorable. everyone gets the ending they deserve.
