Finding Fraser

adorable. everyone gets the ending they deserve.

So much of this plot seemed pretty convenient, and it took a bit of time for me to get into it truly, but I find the whole experience lovely and was ultimately deeply invested in Emma's life decisions. That was, admittedly, partly because I wanted to have a few interventions with her about some things.

I would definitely recommend this for Outlander fans. It's a sweet and poignant tribute to Herself and the story. Non-Outlander fans might still like it, but many things wouldn't be as funny, sad, or moving without the background knowledge.

I am an Outlander fanatic, and this is the ultimate fan fiction! A disillusioned woman goes in search of her own Jamie Fraser (aka the perfect man) inScotland, and finds more than she bargains for. A delight!

There is a lot of things about this book that I really loved! It was funny and witty and resembled Bridget Jones diary quite a lot! And of course the added fact that it was about one of my favourite book series of all time as well as the man of my dreams James Alexander Malcolm MacKenzie Fraser! With that being said it was not the best book I've ever read, The character of Emma is slightly frustrating and problematic and not necessarily always in a good way like for instance Bridget in Bridget Jones Diary. Not to say I didn't like at all because I did but she was difficult at times. The story itself seems to veer off occasionally from its intended goal but the writing is very well laid out and wonderful. Overall I liked this book, it was definitely a fun easy read.

A fun read for Outlander fans!

I'm a big fan of the Diana Gabaldon books this novel is based upon, but found this tale to be a bit disappointing, considering the glowing recommendation of Gabaldon. I do like the initial purpose of the protagonist - to go to Scotland to find her Jamie (or at least have an adventure stemming from the Outlander novels), and while somewhat entertaining at times, mostly, I found myself questioning her and shaking my head at some decisions and events that take place throughout the novel. I know it's just supposed to be light fiction, but I couldn't lose myself enough in the tale to forget that it was fluff, and therefore didn't enjoy it as much as I would have liked.

+ 283: “Hip bones,’ she said, ‘are fookin’ nonsense.”
Ibid. “ye need to step spritely [sic] if ye’re to earn yer salary,’ she said, ‘since mah boarder is doin’ twice the work of you, yeh lazy sow.’ I flexed my biceps and beamed for the rest of the day.”

😂👌❤️

In brief: Emma Sheridan is 29, unemployed, and ready for her Mr. Right Jamie Fraser—so off she goes to Scotland to track him down. Hijinks ensue.

Thoughts: Excellent rom-com fluff, especially for Outlander fans. It’s just the right blend of serious and silly and “Oh, Emma, no….” It’s one of the few books I’ve seen that doesn’t make fun of fans, and manages to be a love letter to the Outlander novels and to Scotland while not being heavy-handed about it or overshadowing Emma’s journey. I did find her a bit overly shallow at the start (like her Jamie must have red hair), and perhaps a bit naive as well, but hey, I’ve run into those tropes in romance and travel novels, respectively, before. Whatever. Dyer set out to entertain and she certainly succeeded. I was rooting for Emma almost before I knew it.
