This was a very good -- albeit LONG -- book. I wasn't sure if I'd make it through because it takes about a third of the book to really get into it.

But if you like drama and espionage, give it a try.

Note: There is some violence. I had to skip a few paragraphs/pages because I didn't want to read the gory stuff.

I very nearly didn’t finish it. I gave up after about 3 chapters because I was bored (can’t believe I thought that) but someone suggested I keep going. I am so glad I did. Absolutely epic. One of these best books I’ve ever read. I will never forget it.

'I Am Pilgrim' is a roller-coaster spy novel that never held a dull moment for me. A great romp that I'd recommend to anyone who wants a high-octane action-packed thriller.

Loonnngggg... should have been cut in half. Starts slow, although it does pick up at the end. The writing is atrociously dull, and the author uses several English terms that an American (the main character) would never use (e.g. carer instead of caregiver) . There is very little dialogue, almost everything is told to the reader rather then shown. There are numerous plot holes that are too glaring to overlook. I really wanted to like this book, but it was just impossible. I can't believe I read the whole thing... what a waste of a snow day!

Wow. An epic. At first, the 800 page length slightly put me off, but as Hayes says in his acknowledgements, it had to be, to do the story justice. The 'Pilgrim' main character is really well written. I like how at first, it throws us into the deep end, write in the middle of a mystery with pretty much zero context, before spending 75% of the book on exposition! Consequently, Hayes fleshes out quite a nice little world, and means that the actual plot is amazing.
