This is my first book by Layla Frost, and I cannot believe I have never heard of or read anything by her before now! This has to be one of my all time favorite kidnapping/captivity-type romances. These reads are almost always dark and steamy, but Little Dove has a softness and sweetness to it that made it different, and I really enjoyed it.
There's some daddy kink (which doesn't really do it for me), but if you're not into it I don't think the story leans into that aspect so much that it'll impact your reading experience. The rest is just a hot age-gap romance with a guy who'll do anything to make his girl happy.
I'll admit, when I got to around 30% in, I didn't know where it could go for the next 70 and still keep my attention, but Layla Frost got the pacing right and it never felt like a drag. If you're into a little bit of darkness laced with a streak of love, definitely give this book a shot!

3.5 ⭐️ okay, I have thoughts. So, I genuinely enjoyed this book! I mean I stayed up until 4am reading and then woke up at 7am to finish so clearly it kept me engaged. BUT the smut was such a let down & im not gonna sugar coat. I’m reading these books for good smut, the plot just adds to the tension lol. But for this being a daddy dom kink the smut was SOO vanilla & just boring! I loooved their interactions until it was time to get nasty and then I was snoozing. So yeah… characters were great, tension was great, but smut was INCREDIBLY disappointing ):

Juliet had a shitty life. When she witnesses her fathers murder, she thinks she’s next. Maximo gives her a home, necessities, and schooling. He keeps her safe until he turns 18.
Really enjoyed this. Love the differences between them and their journey together. Maximo is so protective of his little dove. Super sweet, a tad dominant. Loved Ash and Ms Vera.
