Not thrilled with the writing but the story is gripping. I really enjoyed the characters especially Ginny.
The last scene with Mosey in her birth mother’s home is unbelievable and not sure why it was thrown in there the way it was. She had to meet her, sure, for the story to close neatly but it did not have to be that way.
There is a little trashy romance included and I do not appreciate that type of romance. I don’t quite understand why stuff like this has to be thrown into a story. It degrades the story line. The story would have been fine without that.

I read the hard back book and listened to the audible at the same time since that was recommended, and it is narrated by the author. I was disappointed in the audible because even though the voice was perfect for the southern, I felt it was the same voice for each of the multiple pov's so it was really hard to tell who was talking. It is a family saga of three generations with plenty of mystery and secrets.
Great story development, all the way to the end. I always enjoy Jackson's books. I especially liked the voice she gave to Liza as a stroke victim, keeping her as a storyteller and not just a supporting character.

Ginny Slocumb got pregnant when she was 15. And her Baptist family's disapproval and lack of support leads her to strike out on her own. Fifteen years later, her daughter, also gets pregnant. The story takes place fifteen years later when both Grandmother and Mother are worried about their fifteen year old.
Excellent, funny and tragic. Her books always suck me right in and keep me awake at night turning the pages. Kind of like a mystery mixed with The Help, plus funny teens! I was crying by the end and enjoyed every precious word!
