Wow what an epic ending to this second installment in the Fifth Republic series. An adrenaline rush that will throw everything to the wind as Fluer and Bastien’s relationship grows. I truly believe he would burn the whole world down for her. This book is a testament to his love for her and the danger is getting closer and closer. This book is just the beginning as a war is brewing and things are getting real. I still wonder how everything will go down in the end, especially with Godric.
This book is as sinful as it is dangerous. The characters are strong, deep and seriously deranged. Yes they have rules they abide by, but what happens when they are broken?
This book is a great read that is filled with many emotions and draws you into a cruel dark underground world of drugs, guns and violence. Just remember that this book is a series and should be read in order. Beware of all the trigger warnings as there are a few. Human trafficking, drugs, infidelity, kidnapping, and strong violence

🌶️🌶️🌶️
The second book was a lot slower than the first. It seemed to drag on after a while and got a little repetitive. There was more insight on Bastiens' back story that painted a more vivid picture of why he is how he is, where he came from, and why he and his brother are at odds. In the last few chapters, this started to ramp up, giving the action I was hoping for.
There was still some good 🌶️ and thankfully, not as many cringe or ick moments. And still no idea why this book is called "The Carver" considering nothing in the book reflects the title, in my opinion.

Wonderful second part of Fleur and Bastien's story. Not knowing how the conflicts will be resolved is getting to me and now I have to keep waiting. Ugh!
