Another good thriller by Craven, with a clever plot. Though I have to say, I read part 5 first, and I thought it was better than #1. So... keep reading and it will get better.
The final puzzle pieces were a bit far-fetched for my taste, but overall this was an enjoyable read.
Also, I'm a big fan of the hero in this series, Tilly. Don't we all need a super-intelligent, socially awkward, nerd-power best friend? Of course we do.

A fantastic read. Cleverly plotted. Great characters. A very talented writer. Kept me on edge till the very end. Can't wait to read the next in the series.

A fantastic and intricately woven serial killer novel which kept me guessing until the very end. A serial killer has struck in rural Cumbria, staking men of a certain age in the middle of ancient stone circles before torturing them and setting them on fire. Disgraced former detective Washington Poe is brought back in to help solve the case after his name is found carved into the ribs of the latest victim. With his unlikely and socially awkward assistant Tilly, Poe sets off on his usual route of upsetting his superiors and breaking the rules until he gets to the truth. And what a truth! I never saw it coming...when the killer was revealed I was bowled over and the twists did not stop there. I will definitely be reading more by this author and can't wait to get my teeth into another Washington Poe thriller as he is a brilliant character, flawed and heroic and very believable. Highly recommended!

A stunning novel that I suspect will be one of the novels of 2018 if not right at the top of the pile. If you read only one book this year make sure it is the puppet show.
