An excellent choice among all short novels. The Graveyard Book is friendly for all audiences and grabs and keeps your attention from the start am the way through the end.
It starts off with a murder mystery that caught me right away, then follows the experiences of Nobody Owens, an orphan who's been adopted by the souls of the dead. Nobody Owens learns the ways of the dead, has many relatable life experiences that mold his character.
Overall, a charming book, griping read, would definitely recommend.

Surprisingly creative and well written for a book for younger people. Very readable for an adult as well. I could live without the illustrations.
This is a story of a boy who from babyhood to teen years lives under the care of ghosts and various other creatures in the graveyard. The opening scene of a murder threw me a bit for a kids book but clearly necessary to the plot and mythology. I of course want more details on all the creatures who the book encounters and their history but I suppose the reader is to use their imagination to develop that on their own. Stupid adults wanting it all spelled out for them!
I was sad at the end that there is no chance of a serious sequel without trashing the ending of this book or going in a completely different direction, but the book did need closure.

fun. didn't love that it reads like a collection of short stories. nothing particularly brilliant I thought. cute though
*6 stars*
:)
Graveyard achieves the best balance of what a story can be. I put it down feeling as if I had just read perfection. Interesting, but not heart-pounding, creative, but controlled, engrossing, but I was able to step away happy.

A perfect, perfect autumn spook. Definitely not just a kids book either, enjoyable for all ages!
