Another brilliant book from Anthony Horowitz. He has always been my favourite author since childhood and that doesn’t change with every book of his I read. The way he interweaves plot lines and provides a commentary on the detective genre is brilliant. There are elements of the story I never saw coming and relished the surprise, I raced through the end of the book. I will say I did take longer to get into this one than I usually do and perhaps it could’ve done with being a little shorter. I also sometimes find Susan Ryeland’s need for Andreas a little out of kilter with the rest of the book, however there is no way that plot writing like this couldn’t get 5 stars from me. Just amazing!

I'm more invested in the book-within-the-book Atticus Pund series than the main plot.

I was encouraged to read this during Bookclub when I mentioned enjoying the series on PBS.
As is generally the case for me, the book delves deeper, unpacks the story in great depth and allows the reader to imagine for themselves Susan (former literary editor for Allan Conway) in her MG convertible, Aiden, Cessily, Chief Inspector Lock, and more (there are ALOT of characters).
I enjoyed the story within the story which in the book was Allan Conways book “Atticus Pünt takes the case” written as separate chapters rather told alongside the case that Susan is asked to trace.
If you love PBS check out these books by Anthony Horowitz !
