Not as good as Magpie Murders. Also, how racist do you have to be to make your only Black character an angry, incompetent cop with a powerful build? And then describe him as the racist one? I guess I shouldn't be surprised, given his comments about Midsomer Murders' lack of diversity.  Dude, just leave us out of your books and out of your mouth.

Super enjoyable and loved the book within a book concept.

This author tells a story inside a story. Literally. I found the first book in the series to be a clever idea and enjoyed it. This book actually got confusing with all of the characters of both stories. It was a bit too clever.

Quite good - I do love the “book within a book”. But way too long and way too many characters.

What a fun read! Intricately woven and fun.

I didn’t realize until recently that there was a sequel to Magpie Murders. I remember loving the story within a story theme which was mirrored in the sequel. This book was slower to get through but still was a clever whodunnit. I like how she found all the tie ins at the end but was sad when it was clear that there was an obvious conclusion of the series at the end.
