I didn't expect Anthony Horowitz to have a follow up to Magpie Murders but I really hope he finds a way to keep this series going! I was bummed that Susan Ryeland was voiced by a different narrator this time around, but man the book within a book thing is so much fun! I recommend a warm coat, snow, and a long walk while listening to this one.

I was gripped!!
Don’t love the ending completely but it was great

This was a very interesting novel that i enjoyed. I liked the main character, Susan, and thought the plot was very clever. I had many suspects in my mind but could never quite figure out and was glad to find out the truth in the end.
I also thought the addition of the novel in the middle, the one written by the author who was the main focus of the story, was a great addition. Even though the story was actually quite boring! (have you ever read a book about a fictional author and wished you could read one of their books even though it doesn't actually exist?)
This is a great detective story with the vibes of a classic.

Wow. Brilliantly plotted and full of intricate puzzles…about to the point where I actually would consider this nearly impossible to solve by the rules of fair play BUT who cares? it’s still fun and so so readable! I can’t say I’m devoted to Susan, Andreas, or Alan but I still find them interesting characters. My disbelief wasn’t suspended for how Susan came to be employed in this mystery, but again, who cares? It all tied in the end and the story within a story was highly enjoyable. It’s fiction, it’s supposed to be fantastic.

So I really did like Magpie Murders. I think I enjoyed the real world story of Moonflower Murders more than that of Magpie Murders, but I enjoyed Magpie Murders (Alan Conway) more than Atticus Pünd Takes the Case.
Either way, all very enjoyable.

This series is so clever. I love the book within a book format. I thought I had everything tied up in a neat little bow and was feeling very happy with myself and then the rug was pulled out from underneath me.
