Every good romance has it's own rhythm. From the dialogue to the emotions to the sense of humor. Exploring the Rules continues to expound that beat into an extension of the heart. Dietz rapid fire delivery hooks you in at the start. Tyler and Chloe never slow down once the battle lines are drawn. That makes it easy to get wrapped up in these unpredictable people.

Chloe has a trip planned with her twin sister and her best friend Cooper. Everything was planned, every location was scheduled but there was one surprise that tagged along. Tyler Banks. Multimillionaire, football player, and every girl’s dream, except his enemy Chloe Robinson.

These are the funny adventures between this group of friends that live the VIP experience of their lives. While trying not to murder each other, surviving Truth or Dare games, exploring the country, learning from themselves, eating croissants, flirting, and saving Tyler’s company.

Exploring the Rules was a whole trip to learning about the culture from some places, astronomy, and imagining the trip of your life. This left me with the desire to learn so much from other places and want to live the experience of meeting them in two different kinds of budgets.

Also, the chemistry between the couples is on fire. Because that thing that you desire can become the obstacle between friendships and sisterhoods.

Hate to Friends to Love + Friend Road Trip + Culture + Delicious Food + Spicy Relationships + Tesla SUV + Funny Comebacks + Truth or Dare Rounds + VIP Lifestyle + Mystery + Business = Exploring the Rules

I am a total sucker for a college sports romance and this series gives me just what I need. This is the 4th book in this series and I am so happy I was able to get my hands on an ARC so I can let everyone else know how great this is. While I do say this is college sports romance, it’s pretty light on the sports in this book-with it acting more as background than anything else.

Chloe is a good girl in almost every sense of the term. She likes to follow rules, makes lists, control her outcomes. Non of this means she can’t have fun, especially when she is pushed outside of her comfort zone.

Tyler is a college athlete, popular, rich, oh-did I mention that British accent? He lives for the moment while in school, but his responsibilities to family and what he wants for his future push him to all business when needed. He’s always a closed off because others always want something that he can give him.

After ending up on a road trip back to school together, Chloe and Tyler spend more time with each other than they ever have before. Tyler starts to realize more and more that not everyone wants to use him, and Chloe realizes that someone can accept her need for rules while still pushing her to test herself. Their relationship is so adorable to see build.

I absolutely love that this story takes place on a road trip. Anyone who has taken one before knows you end up so close to anyone you are with and this story takes advantage of that. I am also absolutely in love with the relationship Chloe has with both Cooper and Nessa. The fact that Cooper is friends with both Tyler and Chloe gives that extra dynamic I love seeing in secondary characters.

ARC Review

I feel like this was 2 separate books. I loved the cross country travel aspect of the book...it was a little slow in the beginning some people would call it "slow burn " in reference to building the romance but it was all slow no burn. There was a notice switch in the book when the intimate scenes started and that is all it seemed to be. I didn't like the ending because it seems like everything lead up to London and we don't know how school, football, San Fran or the relationship works out at that point. It was ok.

This was my first book from this author, and although it didn't blow me away, it was an okay first read. The whole dynamic of the 4 of these characters was just weird to me. While I get the twins and their close bond, making the best guy friend and sister be a couple felt off to me. Cooper and Vanessa seemed to throw their relationship in Chloe's face at times, but then Cooper got mad that Tyler and Chloe started messing around? Not sure how that works. Cooper getting mad at Chloe for keeping her secret from him was ridiculous, in my opinion. She didn't have an obligation to tell him anything. While I get that he wanted her to confide in him, it wasn't his business if she didn't want it to be. I did like that Tyler and Chloe get their happy for now ending, it just seemed like too many loose ends were left for me to enjoy it the way I would have liked. Even though it wasn't a favorite, I would be willing to read this author again.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.
medium-paced

Road trips across country are the best. Chloe and Vanessa (Nessie) plan on driving from their home in Florida back to school in Washington. Their friend Cooper is going to go with them too but on the day they leave Nessie springs another traveler on Chloe, Tyler. Chloe hates Tyler with a passion. How is she going to travel across the country in the same car as him?
Tyler is dreading the trip but Cooper is his one real friend who doesn’t ask him for things and is only friends with him because of his money. Feeling the pressure from his father he often comes off as being an ass.
During the drive they play truth or dare to help pass the time. This leads to some interesting moments and some laughs. With their stops along they way they get to see many places they wouldn’t have. Finding yourself, letting go of the rules and having fun is sometimes really necessary. Then you get moments when you see people in a different light. Remember a sometimes what you see or hear isn’t the truth.
Chloe and Tyler are proof that sometimes you hate someone that you like. Their relationship begins fast and doesn’t stop. Couple speed bumps but lots of laughs, a few tears both happy and sad and a whole lot of fun.
