Although some of the information is a little outdated, Scott Cunningham offers one of the most full and comprehensive resources I have read.

An easy read - I can see why he's considered to be one of the world's best resources for new Wiccans. His book is very simple and he explains all of the symbols and tools very well, and even includes some rituals.

This is one of the best places to start if you are curious about modern Paganism for any reason. Cunningham does not make false claims about the origins of Wicca, nor does he try to make it seem like you are fully Wiccan just because you read the book; he is sharing what he can from an oathbound tradition to explain basics and get you started.

Beyond that the references for correspondences and holidays is valuable in itself as it is clearly laid out and easy to find.

WORLDS better than the Silver Ravenwolf beginner stuff out there.

I am so glad I found this book. I also have Cunningham his book about green magic and it is a very interesting read. I found it in a store where you could switch books so obviously, I did and it felt as if it was meant to be (not that I do anything with it but ha, when I was ten I wished).

This whole book is so interesting and makes it a bit more as if I find myself, not all the Wicca stuff is for me but the idea of worshipping nature the way it is sounds like me. Figuring out the working of plants with the green magic book also feels better to me. yet I still pop aspirins in my mouth when the pain is undoable.

I just barely had time to read and when I wanted to read, I decided to pick something else, hence why it took so long.

EN | A certainly dated book that says nothing new to those who already know the topic, but it has an important historical value especially for those who are convinced that in Wicca there should be no gatekeeping, no presumption and no exclusionary behaviors.  Cunningham cared about the practice and wanted it to be accessible to all.  It's heartbreaking to think of everything he could have told us if he had lived longer.  I am sure that his idea of Wicca would have been enriched and broadened even more.
