Things keep moving faster and faster without it slowing down. Not gonna lie, this one was kind of a tearjerker. Honestly at this point I don’t know how the crew is gonna take down the Neverseen. It’s always failure after failure and I’m kind of scared. But I have to keep reading!!!
Each time a new book comes out in this series I reread all of them. They wear very well and do not suffer from knowing what is next.

Lodestar took me a bit to get into, but this installment truly surprised me in the end! The story brewed over time instead of being super action-packed throughout.
It’s a long one, so there were a few moments where I wasn’t sure how much I’d truly enjoy it! But once I hit the 70% mark all bets were off. The gang spends most of this book trying to piece together a puzzle, and once the clues start to fall into place, the stakes are raised and it became intense. I even teared up a bit toward the end. Shannon Messenger didn’t pull her punches!
I will say that the explanation for the Lodestar felt a bit over complicated (a bit dragged out), but at the same time, I’m happy that it wasn’t resolved in a single chapter. Maybe I was just too eager to finally understand what was REALLY going on after being in the dark for over 500 pages lol.
Overall, this one was unexpected and I was pleasantly surprised by it. I still loved the way that the lines between good and evil were blurred and discussed, and I loved the themes of family and even politics.
If you haven’t read Keeper yet, you’re definitely missing out on an amazing middle grade fantasy series!

"He does need to make it up to you. Haven’t you realized that yet? That’s why you and Mr. Sencen work so well together. You both push each other to believe in yourselves. Don’t go easy on him now because you’re afraid he’s too fragile. The more you let him prove himself, the more he’ll realize he’s still worthy."
