A gentle, moving story of aging, life, friendship & love. My entire book group loved it. Read my full review at:

Writing is 5 stars but personally I hated the ending so much I deleted a star.

I wish I could say I learned something from this book and it left a deep impact on me but it didn't. This is a simplistic book that is a pretty easy going read and listen. It's interesting how much a person can learn just by listening to someone and asking questions. This book served as a reminder of how people presume certain truths about circumstances and people. It's definitely a downside characteristic of the human species.

I appreciate the fact that Addie and Louis has honest conversations throughout the book. In the beginning the story felt too serious and I didn't enjoy it. Personally I started really liking the story once Jamie, Addie's grandson, came to stay with her and met Louis (around 36%). When he came in the conversations became funny and I started feeling a connection to all the characters. Once he left Addie's house I started losing interest because Addie and Louis started to change. At first I was happy for the change but then they started cowing to pressure. It makes sense that they acted this way because it's how most people would act but I was disappointed in them especially Addie.

This book isn't a fast paced or exciting book, but if you want a simple sweet book about human connections this could be a nice choice for you. Try it out and see what happens.
