Beautiful

First of all, if Gene would just go to therapy everyone could be much happier. Second, Addie is a grown ass woman being bossed around by her son and I just hate it.

Anyways, I think I liked this?? It felt a little dry but somehow so easy to read. I love the idea of finding love very late in life. It didn’t have much in the way of plot but I liked the way a developing relationship was shown. The mundane felt real and relatable and the bits of joy stuck out because mostly things were just normal, like life typically is.

The premise of this story was good: two souls who have lost their spouses find solace and company on one another. Promising right? I found Addie to be selfish and weak as a character. I felt like she used Louis, and didn’t really give him anything back in return. Louis is a pleaser, but his character showed some growth. In the end, I was disappointed with the plot and characters.

Such a sad ending for what was such a sweet book. Although, I suppose for some families, it's how they would behave. I really enjoyed this up until the last couple chapters, sometimes you don't get a happy ending.
