Tender and heartbreaking. I love Kent Haruf’s writing so much. I wish there were endless stories that take place in Holt. The narration was incredible on the audiobook, as always.
No book makes me cry. I do not cry. I most certainly do not burst into tears when a book ends.
I reluctantly admit this book did. Too close to home, I guess. I'm from the midwest and I know people like the characters here - in fact, my people are the characters here.
Mark Bramhall captured it well, although I wasn't always sure who was talking. It didn't matter. The book was amazing regardless of whether Bramhall did it well or not.

Haruf has a gentle writing style. His stories move at the pace of life and capture the truths of life. I liked this story- two people looking for friendship/companionship in the last years of their life. Sad ending.
