--------

I have to say this one was better then the first. For that I give it 3.5 stars. I think what really held me off by giving it 4, was Nora.

Like almost every other person has stated. She jumped the gun on everything. She had no patience for any explanations, nor did she even want to hear anyone else's side of the story. Yeah I will admit, some of the situations I would look at as pretty damn shady but her immaturity and the way she handled them made me want to strangle her.
As for Patch, I wouldn't declare him innocent either. There were times where I would have slapped him across the face myself. He did however redeem himself pretty well and for that I will keep a little soft spot for him. Okay, I still think he's sexy in a mysterious kind of way.

The second half of the book is where I really started becoming more interested. Shockingly there were surprises that I wasn't expecting. Characters who I misjudged, and feelings I hadn't felt at first. The ending was a pretty good cliffhanger and I think because of that I will be continuing this series. :)

I first read this book around the year of its release and re-read it this year. I definitely liked it much better then.

Something I love to read in books and that I enjoyed in this book is suspense and mystery. We are in the dark with the main character about a lot of things in her life throughout this book and I really enjoyed searching for answers with her.

Although, the majority of the time the main character got on my nerves. She bordered on bipolar in a lot of her decisions which was a huge turn off. It was incredibly irrational and definitely not the same put together, studious, responsible girl on the first book. It was like she developed into a different person and I didn't get to see it.

Learning about her background and lineage was very interesting. Just when you think she's safe and no one can harm her, you find that's a lie. Which brings me to the twist. Definitely did not see it coming, I was really surprised at what lengths that betrayal was taken and definitely made the story much more enjoyable because it kept me on my toes.

I, again, had trouble with the main character's relationship. Nora and Patch were on again and then off again and then on again and I just got tired of it. And then, again, in the end everything is easy peasy lemon squeezy in like 5 pages. Hate that.

But the worst thing about this book is the cliffhanger. I hate them as a whole but I was this close to abandoning this series which is something I've never done but was compelled to do, and then the cliffhanger! Not only did it make me want to know more, but it also bumped this book up to 4 stars because I didn't see it coming and I know shit is gonna go down.

So I guess it was a good idea from the author to have that cliffhanger

This installment was more exciting and interesting, than the first one, especially closer to the end of the book. I liked Vee in this book, I loved Patch in the end of the book, I'm disappointed about Rixon - I really liked him and never saw it coming, that I'd have to change my mind. The book is not easily read - you've got to make efforts to be an attentive reader, because if you miss some even minor detail, it'll mess with your understanding of the plot, so don't expect an easy read, but it's worth efforts!!!

Series slowly growing on me

So the series is slowly growing on me. The writing was a little bit better than the first book but I’m still docking a star because of how much Nora and Marcie annoyed me with their lady d**k battle. I kept yelling at the book for Nora to just listen to what Patch had to tell her before jumping down his throat fueled by her jealousy. I was genuinely surprised with how the book ended and it made me want to buy the 3rd book immediately.

The previous book in this series got the benefit of nostalgia that really boosted it’s rating in my mind. This one was just straight up garbage. It was just so irritating to slog through, because some how nothing happens and it is just so slow. Like Patch and Nora break up at the very beginning of the book and Nora never shuts the fuck up about it. It’s like the worst kind of high school romance drama, because it is so petty and unimportant. And again, Nora’s horrible reasoning for being a disaster is thrown into your face at least once a page. Also Vee has got to be one of the worst friends that has ever existed. She never respects anyone’s decisions and is just dumb as fuck. The only reason she is Nora’s best friend is because for some reason Nora has never had any other friends. Which also makes no sense because Nora is the most bland ass normal high school girl that has ever existed. Like the author neglected to give her any interesting characteristics at all that may have made her more of an outcast. She does nothing but get in the way, make dumb stupid decisions that can’t even be chocked up to inexperience or anything. Like just straight up stupid. She drives a car into a ditch?? Why?? The entire book is just bad teenage angst and the plot doesn’t even really resolve itself. Also why is Scott introduced? I mean I guess there has to be a love triangle, but THERE ISN’T EVEN A LOVE TRIANGLE.
