I'll be honest, at first I really didn't have that much hope for this book. HOWEVER, the revelation at the end of the first part blew me away and the 2nd part was beautiful!

I was hopeful based off my normal love for KH, but this just wasn’t it for me.
It felt disjointed and so unbelievable that I didn’t even enjoy the magical aspect of it. I couldn’t get past the obvious awkward interactions between Joy and Daniel/Bobby.
Yes, we understand why they seemed that way later in the story, but it didn’t fall into place like many of Hannah’s other works.
Also, Joy forgiving her sister cause she was her sister? Nah, cheap excuse for a reunion at the end. I couldn’t believe how easily she was let off.

this books starts off with a bang: the family drama and the plane crash but then it takes an unbelievable turn with joy going in the opposite direction of help, a little boy letting her injured self stay the night, going for a walk in a storm like dummy. THEN PART 2! well played kristen but still the ending/this book is trippy. so this place and people are fake but then it’s real?? how? and the insta love and comfort ability daniel has with her just because his kid drew pictures of her and talked about her. idk still unbelievable but a pretty wild ride. i just can’t believe thiiisss is the same author as nightengale and four winds.

I was all set to give the story two stars. Part 1 was nonsense. But I found Part 2 pulled it out of the nonsense…somewhat. And who doesn’t love a heartwarming ending for a Christmas read?
