Well… the day finally came. I found a Kristin Hannah book I don’t like. Sadly, I was bored through most of this book. Joy, our main character, makes a spontaneous decision to buy a plane ticket after an ugly separation from her husband. She’s on Christmas break and has time for an adventure. From there… things happen. Ha! She meets a young boy who is grieving the loss of his mother, but we find out what we think happened may not have happened… or did it? And that’s the best I can do without spoiling it.

I could hear Kristin Hannah in the writing but for some reason my feelings and emotions weren’t awakened. I have also learned I don’t love kid dialogue in books.

I've been baffled by the FMC's choices from the start and I just cannot keep reading this. There's no possible ending that makes it worth continuing this book. Which is surprising because I love the other K. Hannah books I've read but, this one... Is not for me.
