I've always seen good feedback on this book, and as you now know: single dad, age gap are some of my favorite tropes, and to that we add a grumpy x sunshine and a slow burn.
Unfortunately I didn't love this book as much as I thought I would and I'm so sad I had such high hopes
I found that this book could have been much shorter, for me there was a lot of repetition, everything dragged on.
Let's start with Aurora.. I forgot Aurora was in her 30's sometimes. It felt like she was in her mid 20s she was so immature and every time Rhodes calls her Angel/Angel face she continued to act stupid “Oh, he keeps forgetting my name is Aurora I need to remind him” girl pls

In the small town of Pasgoa springs, Aurora moves back home to the place she grew up knowing it won’t be easy to start over again. Here enters grumpy and handsome Tobias Rhodes who happens to be Auroras landlord after his son Amos lets Aurora stay in their garage apartment. This slow burn romance follows Aurora through her battles after her divorce with famous singer Kaden and her grief after the death of her mother who was an avid hiker. Aurora aims to complete the trials that her mother did but it turns out it’s not that easy as it seems and her grumpy landlord has to come to her rescue. Will Aurora finally find happiness in Pagosa Springs?
I really enjoyed reading this slow burn romance and seeing the romance blossom between Aurora and Rhodes. I really loved Auroras and Amos’s friendship dynamic in the book as well and reading about Yuki’s character as well.
My favourite quote was “You gotta come back." "Come Back?" I echoed like I'd never heard those words before. "Home," they said at the same time.”
This was another of my favourite reads by Mariana.

I should have DNF’d this, but I was anticipating that they’d flesh out one of the plot points way more… they didn’t so I ended up a little disappointed

Mariana Zapata is the queen of slow burn romance. I felt like this small town romance had a perfect mix of trauma that each of the characters went through, as well as some lightheartedness surrounding their day-to-day lives. Mariana Zapata books are such character driven books so if you like reading about the daily lives and occurrences of characters, then her books are for you. This one was great and super enjoyable!!

There were some moments that I feel were brushed over, and I wish had been explained more in depth.
