In this Sandman volume, published after the 10 Sandman books, we meet the seven Endless siblings again: Death, Desire, Dream, Despair, Delirium, Destruction and Destiny. Each of the chapters centres around one of the Endless. Gaiman as usual knows how to create short and interesting stories around each of them. He uses mythology and makes it his own in a very contemporary way. It's dark, intruiging and sometimes funny.
In this volume, I particularly liked the choice of artists: the artwork really fitted the different stories and reflected the beautiful prose of the author. The art in the Despair-story is awesome, not something you usually see in graphic novels and comic, but definitely adding a lot to the '16 portraits of Despair'.

A great addition to my Sandman-library!

A guid wee tale of tae intersectin narratives tha both relate tae death, both the character an the concapt. The art is pretty guid and the story interestin, little else tae say tae be fair.

The art in tis yin didnae dae nuthin fir me n the storie wisnae aw that interstin. It sorta fallaws on fae the Delrium storie previous as she recovrs. It dusnae focus on Destructon tha much but is enjoyable enouf.

All them stars are fir the art, Frank Quitely does beutiful work that is weel worth leukin at by itsel. The storie however isnae great, it jest goes frough wit Destiny does, which we already knew since he wis intraducd. Amazin art, passable 'storie'.

It's kind of sad to think that I have now finished the Sandman saga. This volume (not really part of the original story, as it was written several years later), gives us one story for each of the Endless; Death, Despair, Desire, Delirium, Destruction, Dream, and Destiny. It's really quite good. I think it was a fitting culmination of the stories. And the artwork was marvelous. Most disturbing was the "15 Portraits of Despair." Now, on to other sets, probably continuing with the Books of Magic series, of which I have read the first volume. Had no idea there were so many volumes of that series.
