This was a brutal, viscous, and gory fairytale. The writing was lovely, but I wasn’t sure as to what the point was. I feel like there should have been a little more development because I didn’t exactly understand why certain things were happening. Nonetheless, the descriptions were incredible.

Okay, it's hot monster summer??

The purply prose in this novella was rich, and the body horror/dark faerie tale retelling/creepy atmosphere was quite clear. Something about the whole thing felt at worst too monotonous to me, or at best just a little repetitive. Enjoyed the audiobook for sure, wish it was about fifty pages shorter.
