There is nothing more exciting than seeing one of your favorite authors releasing a new book… unless it’s getting your hands on a copy of that book before it releases so you can read it early—or for bloggers like myself read and review it. That’s where I was this weekend when I saw I Bet You hit my kindle, literally jumping up and down, screaming joy!! And yes, I scared the kids and the dog with my actions, but my family knows not to come between me and a book by one of my go-to authors. Ilsa Madden-Mills is one of my favorites and I have been anticipating I Bet You since I finished I Dare You a few months ago. Needless to say, I dropped out of life for the time it took to consume I Bet You and it was more than worth the insane amounts of laundry and cleaning I had to do today to make up for lost time.
Ilsa Madden-Mills is a New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today best-selling author. Her track record for releasing outstanding romances speaks for itself and calling her one of my favorite authors is not an exaggeration by any stretch of the imagination. Other than the fact that she pens stories which are unputdownable—they are consistently original, fun, and sexy—there is something about her heroes and heroines that just grab your attention. Heroes like Ryker, heroes who are that perfect balance of cocky, alpha and gentleman willing to go to great lengths for the woman he loves. And there is certainly no denying the appeal of a heroine who’s strong, intelligent and brave (read: Penelope). Am I intriguing you yet? I’ve found that each and every one of Ilsa Madden-Mills hero and heroines meets these characteristics and if you are anything like me, you will find them easy to get lost in much like the storylines of Ilsa’s books.
I Bet You is Ryker Voss and Penelope Graham’s love story. Ryker is QB1 for his college football team who's lost his shot at The Heisman Trophy after an expose written by none other than Penelope. While the two have spent three years at the same school, they’ve never run into one another before but that all changes after Penelope’s coverage of a football fighting ring. Now they are seeing each other everywhere and with each interaction, their fascination for one another grows… and the sexual tension mounts! Be prepared for a slow-burn, sexy YA romance that will leave you wanting to return to college. Or at least, a college experience like Ilsa Madden-Mills paints! The sheer chemistry between Ryker and Penelope alone made the book worth wild, to say nothing of the sexy times which I certainly enjoyed! 😉 I Bet You was hot for sure, but I truly loved the wit and banter between the pair every bit as much… and Penelope’s journal entries as well! I Bet You is the second book in The Hook Up series by Ilsa Madden-Mills. Although part of a series, these sports romances can be read as standalones. Of course, as soon as you read one, you’re going to want to read the other, so do yourself a favor and just buy them both and dig in! You’ll be thanking me! Ilsa Madden-Mills latest, I Bet You, is another five-star romance that you can. not. miss!

I Bet You is a perfect New Adult, college romance! This story gave me similar feels to Madden-Mills previous work, Dirty English, which I LOVED!
Penelope is hard-working, sweet and kind. She has a troubled relationship with her father and she's mourning the relatively recent loss of her mother. Those experiences have shaped her and given her a skeptical outlook on life and love. And, she's a bit of a lovable nerd!
Ryker is a football star. His role as the Quarterback and leader of a championship caliber team gets him whatever and whoever he wants. Except Penelope. He's drawn to her in spite of or because of that fact! He's a more complicated person than Penelope originally believed and she struggles to match her assumptions of him to the reality. But, of course, their chemistry and attraction to one another is undeniable.
There aren't a lot of twists and turns or surprises in this book. But, it delivers exactly what you hope for when you pick up a NA, college, football, romance! From start to finish, I Bet You is a sweet and charming coming of age tale. It is a definite one-click for Kindle Unlimited subscribers and all romance lovers!
An advance copy of this book was received from the author. Receipt of this copy did not impact the content or independence of this review. I Bet You Received a 4.5 Overall Rating. BFF Book Blog also uses a set of icon ratings. This book received additional icons for: butterflies, character development, hero, heroine, romance, steamy and sweet.

I really, really liked both Penelope and Ryker. I enjoyed their banter and overall chemistry. Super cute and sexy new adult sports romance. This series keeps getting better!
lighthearted
Wow I don't know where to start with this book. Ryker and Penelope are absolutely great. This is not your typical boy meets girl , boy and girl fall in love. Actually this is more boy meets girl and girl hates boy.
Penelope hates jocks and especially the ones like Ryker who are making bets about her. Ryker is the typical jock . He is the QB for the college , hottie and loves to bet especially on Penelope. Little does Ryker know one bet could change everything .
This book will bring tears to your eyes , it will make you laugh , and it will all be worth the ride.

This book is a real page-turner. The hero is kind of an asshole but sweet at the same time. Star QB, secret romantic? But he keeps getting caught up in these stupid team bets and our heroine is the one suffering from them. When will men learn? I think this was a cute story--sports and romance novels mixed together--the jock and the aspiring writer. Made for some interesting connections.
Ryker, oh Ryker! I simply loved this sports romance / friends to lovers / enemies to lovers / whatever you want to classify it as read! :D
First off, I freaking loved Penelope aka Red! She was smart, independent, attractive, sassy and hard working! She knew who she was and didn’t take other people’s crap.
Ryker was a seriously misunderstood jock who had a chip on his shoulder and something to prove.
The chemistry between these two characters was electric! Although some of their most major encounters were as a result of a bet between football players, their relationship grew slowly and sweetly! I really enjoyed how the story progressed, their relationship evolved and especially appreciated the amazing epilogue!

3.5 Stars
A really sweet romance. It wasn’t super hot or spicy.
I personally didn’t care for Ryker continuing to push Penelope at Connor but that was my personal issue.
I quick and easy ready.

*SPOILER ALERT*
